RE-VERB at City Art Space, Rochester, NY September 6-22, 2019

This year’s Faculty in Focus series features a group exhibition of current work by David Schnuckel, Suzanne Peck, Lydia Martin, and John Shea. The artists will examine diverse practices revolving around shared values in material research, the handmade, and creative activity as a means to navigate the unknown.

City Art Space’s annual Faculty in Focus series is a platform to feature new and ongoing projects by one or more faculty members from RIT’s College of Art and Design, and to engage with an extended community of artists, art lovers, and educators through their creative work.

The exhibition at RIT City Art Space is part of the 2019 Key Bank Rochester Fringe Festival, the largest multi-genre festival in New York state, featuring ticketed and free events spanning comedy, theatre, visual and performing arts, film, dance, and multi-disciplinary collaborations. RIT is a Founding Higher Ed Partner of the festival. Visit rochesterfringe.com for more information.

58th Annual Seminar on Glass
October 18 and 19, 2019

In conjunction with the exhibition New Glass Now, the 58th annual Seminar on glass will focus on the past, present, and future of contemporary glass.

For 60 years New Glass has added to the capacity and capabilities of the field through the foundational exhibitions Glass 1959 and New Glass: A Worldwide Survey (1979) as well as the annual publication New Glass Review. Central to New Glass is a democratic selection process that inspires conversation, enabling diverse panels and diverse audiences to have an opinion. These conversations about contemporary glass have shaped the field we know today.

Using the New Glass Now and New Glass Now | Context exhibitions as a starting point, this two-day Seminar will feature lectures, panel discussions, and conversations on issues relevant to contemporary glass.
